Graveside services for Jimmy K. Foley were held on Monday, August 2, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Little Flock Cemetery near Jewett. Bro. Billy Bob Evans officiated.
Mr. Foley passed asway on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco.
He was born in Jewett on January 25, 1948, and graduated from Leon High School with the class of 1965. Jimmy served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He spent time in North Carolina, Florida, and overseas with his service in Special Operations. He met Jean while stationed in Florida and they were married on February 17, 1968, in Orlando. After his honorable discharge, he lived in Orlando, but moved back and forth to Texas for a few years before settling in Texas in the early 1970’s, living in Buffalo and Jewett. He moved to Teague where he remained in 1973. Jimmy had several occupations during his working career. He ran a service station in Jewett, worked for the railroad as a clerk in Shiro, but his main career was with the coal mine near Jewett where he operated heavy equipment for almost thirty years. He loved to hunt and fish and tell stories and visit with everyone.
He is survived by his wife of over fifty-three years, Jean Foley of Teague; one son, Taber Foley & wife Katie; two granddaughters, Megan Freeland and Madison Foley; two sisters, Judy Cullefer & husband Wayne and Alisa Foley & husband Mike Stevenson; his sister-in-law, Phyliss Foley; four nieces, Tina Clark & husband John, Kelly Theis & husband Jeff, Carla Hanz & husband Kevin, and Carmen Foley; two neohews, T. J. Foley & wife Debra and Steven Foley & wife Alissa; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Foley was preceded in death by one son, Jim Kinard Foley; his brother, Tommy Foley; his father, Jim Oliver Foley; and his mother, Ruby Foley.
