Eric Paul Durr, of Centerville, Texas and owner of Durr’s Small Engine, passed away March 11,2021 in Alvin, Texas surrounded by his family.
Eric was born on September 16,1953. He was raised in Alvin, TX where he graduated from Alvin High School. Eric moved to Centerville and opened Durr’s small engine, a lawn mower repair shop which had been a well established business in Centerville for many years. Eric enjoyed coffee at Town Cafe with the guys before work and also would stop by Dairy Queen on his way home from work to have coffee or ice cream while visiting with others. He also enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, visiting with family and getting on people’s nerves. He liked to play with the grandkids and spoil them with all the junk food and toys like a grandpa should, earning him the nickname “Peanut” from his granddaughters, Selena and Chelsea. He was a great cook and a fun dance partner. Eric enjoyed attending local activities, such as the 4th of July parade, Christmas parade and rodeo with his granddaughters. He was looking forward to his retirement. Eric was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer only one month before passing.
Eric was preceded in death by both of his parents, brother and sister. He is survived by brothers, Mark, Craig and David Durr; nieces and nephews of Alvin; son, Stephen Durr and his wife and son; and daughter, Sky Almaguer and husband, Orlando, and their daughters, Selena and Chelsea of Centerville, Texas.
A visitation was held Friday, March 19, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Alvin, Texas.
Interment followed after services at Confederate Cemetery, Alvin, Texas.
