Mamie Joy Seale–Wells

Mamie Joy Seale–Wells gained her heavenly wings January 21, 2021, after a brief illness. She was born Mamie Joy Bell Sept. 18, 1935 at Centerville, Texas to Hazel and Raymond Bell. She graduated high school and married Don Seale. Together they moved several times throughout Texas, including Colorado City, Odessa, Denver City and finally San Angelo. Their union ended shortly after the last move and she remained a single lady until she married Pete Wells.
Joy had a passion for law enforcement that she passed on to her son Mark and his family. She had many hobbies which included collecting glassware, sewing, and always searching for an opportunity to get rich. Joy loved her pets – she always had one or two puppies and a few cats — they were part of her family. One cat in particular, Big Tom, stopped coming to the house to eat, she assumed it had been injured. One day as she was headed to town, she saw a black cat that had been hit by a car, she had her husband scrape it up, take it home and bury it. A few days later she called Mark to let him know Big Tom had just shown back up at the door – hungry. Apparently, they had a funeral for an unknown black cat. She was always doing things that were humorous and would be regaled in stories during family functions.
Of all her passions she was the proudest of her son Mark and his family. Anytime she had an opportunity she would give the latest update of Teresa, Mark, Blake, Kelby, and Kaden. She was a loving grandmother to these three. When Addison and Ella Joy were born, she became a great-grandmother, and these precious girls became her main topic of conversation. She was still wanting a great-grandson to this day.
She was a devout Christian and she loved her Lord, and she daily prayed for her family, friends, and enemies alike. She saw beauty in the world and if she loved you that love lasted through the ages. She would give her last penny to help others. Heaven has truly gained an angel.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Pete Wells; her son Mark Seale and his wife, Teresa of Snyder; granddaughter, Kelby Seale-Minton and husband, Blaine of Snyder; grandsons, Blake Seale and Kaden Seale of Lubbock; her brothers, Wayne Bell and wife, Nola and Sherman Bell and wife, Carla, all of Huntsville and great-granddaughters, Hailey, Addison and Ella Joy Minton of Snyder, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Hazel and Raymond Bell and sister, Mary Ann Johnson.
Graveside services were held 11 A.M., Monday, January 25, 2021 at the Centerville Cemetery, Centerville, Texas. Wayne Bell officiated.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Christian Children’s Home, 1356 NM-236, Portales, NM 88130.
Arrangements were under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
