Graveside services for Connie Renee Boykin will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Sardis Cemetery near Jewett. Bro. Allen Crosby will officiate.
There will not be a visitation at the funeral home.
Mrs. Boykin went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
Connie Renee Boykin was born on June 20, 1945 in Houston, Texas to parents James Burvin & Dora Carter. Connie worked as a secretary at Akzo Nobel for many years and as a secretary at First Baptist Church of Pasadena. After retirement she continued to work as a greeter at Walmart. Everyone knew her as the “Walmart Lady” and when they would ask her how she was doing, her response was always “mean as ever.” She had a love for animals, cats especially. She could never let one go hungry. Mrs. Boykin was an Elvis fan and actually got a kiss from him at a concert once. She was hard working and feisty until the end. We will miss her but take comfort in knowing she is with her husband, mother and father; she is no longer in pain and has her memory back. There is a party in Heaven right now.
She is survived by her only daughter, Rebecca Hanks & husband Leonard Hanks, Jr.; one grandson, Bradley Hanks & his fiance Kayla Fruge; two great-granddaughters Ryan and Ryleigh Hanks; and one sister and brother-in-law, Joyce & Bobby Hendricks.
Mrs. Boykin was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Boykin; and her parents, Dora Carter and James Burvin Carter.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Houston Humane Society, 14700 Almeda Rd, Houston, TX 77053 or online at www.houstonhumane.org.
