Brian Stafford


Brian Stafford, age 60, passed away at his home Tuesday, August 11, 2020 surrounded by his family.  Funeral services were held 10 A.M., Thursday, August 13, 2020 at the Cowboy Church of Leon County.  Pastor of the church, Tuffy Loftin, officiated the service, and interment was in Leona Cemetery.
Born September 9, 1959 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, Victor “Brian” Stafford, was the only son of four children born to Herman & Frances (Sheppard) Stafford.  At the age of four Brian’s family moved to Leon County where he remained a resident his entire life.  He received his Associates Degree in A/C HVAC repair from Navarro Jr. College in Corsicana.  Brian retired from T.D.C.J. following his twenty-year employment from September 1989 to September 2009.  He received his Basic Peace Officer’s license in 1997 and began reserve work at Freestone County from 1997 to 2000.  From 2000 to 2007, Brian was employed as a reservist with the Fairfield Police Department.  In 2007 he began work for Leon County Sheriff’s Department and retired in 2018 as Jail Administrator.  During that time, Brian received his Master Peace Officer’s License in 2015 and his Jailer’s license in 2017.  He was a member of the Cowboy Church of Leon County.
Brian was preceded in death by both of his parents; son, Trevor Kyle Stafford and sisters, Cynthia Lynn and Karen Denise Stafford.
Surviving family members include son and daughter-in-law, Vic & Jessica Stafford of Grapeland; sister, Karen (Ralph) Savage of Leona; grandsons, Ryder and Roan Stafford; niece and nephews, Matt (Vanessa) Johnson, Mistin (Blake) Meyer, Tyler (Emily) Parks and Tanner Parks and great nephew & niece, Archer & Alethia.  Brian is also survived by special friend and caregiver, Eugena Rebey, as well as numerous aunts and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leon County Law Enforcement Association, P.O. Box 814, Centerville, Texas 75833.
Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas was entrusted with arrangements.
