V. Ralph Cole, Jr.

Graveside services for V. Ralph Cole, Jr., 82, will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Marquez Cemetery.
Virgil Ralph Cole Jr was born in Chickasha, OK on October 20, 1937. He passed away peacefully on Monday April 5, 2020 in Dallas at the home of his daughter.
Ralph was an expert in his lifelong field of Petroleum Engineering but that never got in the way of a good round of golf with a friend. A veteran of the Korean War, he was proud of his service to his country.  A man with a huge heart, he tried (unsuccessfully) to hide his generous spirit behind a gruff exterior. Before everyone else was doing it, he perfected the art of the “Dad Joke” and knew how to make you smile. He loved gadgets and if he could find two for the price of one, even better.  He was eager to be reunited with the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Martha Ann.  Ralph and Martha had one child, Vanessa of whom they were extremely proud. Together, they enjoyed time at the lake on the water and made many great memories.
He is survived by his daughter Vanessa Cole of Dallas; his sister Carlene Foster of Katy; his brother James Cole and wife Marietta of Kingwood; his sister-in-law Linda Baker and husband Ed of Eatonton, Georgia; his nieces and nephews, Debora Simmons, Josh Cole, Jimmy and Myra Grounds, Charles and Tehri Grounds, Keith and Kelley O’Toole, Danny and Gladis O’Toole, Rhian and James Gracey, and Kara and Chris Hedrick, as well as other extended family and many great friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Martha, and both his parents.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time when friends and family will be allowed to come together.
