Funeral services for Joseph Dale Holder were held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett. Rev. Richard Gillet officiated. Interment followed the services at Fort Parker Memorial Cemetery in Groesbeck with Masonic Honors provided by Buffalo Lodge #554 and a U. S. Marine Corps Honor Guard.
Mr. Holder passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019, at the Fairfield Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born in Quinlan, TX, on November 12, 1930, to Ethal (McGallon) and Henry Melven Holder. Dale served his country honorably in various capacities. He was a Merchant Marine, a member of the U. S. Coast Guard, a corporal in the U. S. Marine Corps, and a veteran of the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the U. S. Marine Corps, he married Marie Combs and they lived in Pasadena, TX until moving to Buffalo after his retirement from ARMCO Steel. Dale was a Freemason since 1963, and a proud member of Buffalo Lodge #554.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Marie, and their son, Danny.
Mr. Holder is survived by his daughter, Donna Holder of Buffalo; five grandchildren, Alicia Cox, Josh Knight, Laura Zeig, Kenneth Holder, and Kevin Holder; numerous nieces and great-grandchildren.
