Funeral services for Joe Zapolski, age 71, of Buffalo, were held 1 P.M., Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas. A private interment was held at a later date in the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
Joseph Thomas Zapolski was born May 4, 1947 in Queens, New York to Stanley & Mary (Halgas) Zapolski. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Joe married Joanne Puppelo July 5, 1969. They eventually moved to the Houston area due to a transfer from his job with Shell Oil Company. Following Joe’s retirement from Shell Oil, they moved to the country and built their present home near Smith Crossing in Leon County. Joe was an avid gun collector and enjoyed hunting. He was the cook of the family and loved doing so very much.
Joe passed away January 2, 2019 in Bryan, Texas following a lengthy battle with several illnesses. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Surviving family members include wife, Joanne Zapolski of Buffalo; son, Anthony Zapolski & girlfriend, Mandy, of Buffalo; daughter, Lisa Horner & husband, David, of Katy; brother, Robert Zapolski & wife, Margaret of Bethpage, NY and three grandchildren, Colton Horner, Alexis Zapolski & Kaitlyn Zapolski.
