Garland Cunningham

Funeral services for Garland Cunningham were held on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett. Chaplain Jon Honea officiated. Cremation followed the service.
Mr. Cunningham passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018, at the Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck. He was 69 years old.
He was born in Hearne and spent time growing up in Hearne and Cypress. Garland joined the U. S. Marine Corps and served in Okinawa, Japan among other locations. He married Linda Winn on September 22, 1967, and shared over fifty-one years of marriage together. After his time in the Marines, he moved to Buffalo and he spent the last twenty years at Lake Limestone where he loved to fish. Mr. Cunningham worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He was a loving father and grandfather and was a Baptist by faith.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Cunningham of Lake Limestone; three sons, Ray Cunningham of Magnolia, Tommy Cunningham & wife Katherine, and Chon Cunningham all of Jewett; eight grandchildren, Jacob Cunningham, Sarah Sheffield, Travis Cunningham, Courtney Spence, Dalton Cunningham, Seth Cunningham, Chon Cunningham, Jr., and Makayla Cunningham; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Sherri Gilliam & husband Jerry of Buffalo; one brother, Wayne Cunningham of Cypress; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
