DANA- C. Max Wernsing, 80, of Dana, Indiana and formerly of Jewett, Texas passed away at 12:30 am Monday, September 3, 2018 in his residence. He was a retired truck driver working as a husband and wife team for J.H. Ware Trucking Company. He was born March 15, 1938 at Hillsboro, Illinois to the late Earl Henry Wernsing and Nina Marshall Wernsing. Survivors include his wife Dorcas “Dusty” Weller Wernsing whom he married October 18, 1984. Also surviving, one son, David Earl (Stephanie) Wernsing of Taylorsville, Illinois; one daughter, Renee (Steve) Brown of Morrisonville, Illinois; two sisters, Kay Boyer of Algonquin, Illinois and Joy Monke of Noblesville, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Alexandria, Anastasia, Nicholas, Maria, Ethan, Alyssa and Leyton. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew. He was a graduate of Raymond (IL) High School and Eureka College. He served with the U.S. Army. He was a school teacher in Peoria, Illinois and owner of Wernsing and Son Slaughterhouse in Harvel, Illinois. He was affiliated with the Disciples of Christ Christian Church and enjoyed woodworking.
