Sara “Sally” McFerran Brown

Mrs. Sara “Sally” McFerran Brown, age 88, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 3, 2018 in Malakoff, Texas. She was born February 25, 1930 to loving parents, Leon Norwood and Dorothy (Cope) McFerran, in Kansas City, Missouri. The family moved to University Oak, Dallas, Texas where Sara attended Highland Park School graduating in 1947. She attended TWU and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Food Management in 1951. She spent her early years working as a dietitian. She married her loving husband, Roger Eugene Brown (deceased). They lived in Farmers Branch, Texas. She received her pilot license in 1961. She loved flying and spent many hours in the air. She participated in the Powder Puff Derbies 1960-1969 while employed at Addison Airport. She was a prominent member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and co-owner of the Industrial Fleet Services. Her retirement years were spent in Jewett, Texas with her loving husband before his death at which time she moved to Athens, Texas area to be with her family. She is survived by her sister, Mary Ann McFerran Clark; niece, Tracy Clark; nephew, Todd Clark; brother-in-law, Don Brown and wife Linda; and many nephews and nieces. She also had many pets which she loved dearly. There will be a graveside service at 10:00 am, Monday, June 11, 2018 at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas in Section O
