Evan Jackson “Jack” Williams


Funeral services for Mr. Evan Jackson “Jack” Williams, age 88, of the Flo Community of Leon County, Texas were held at 2 PM, Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the Flo Community Church. Bro. Mark Thrift and Rev. John Murray officiated and burial was in the Wheelock Cemetery.
Jack Williams was born on March the 21, 1929 in Flo, Texas to Horace and Nettie (Barnett) Williams. He grew up in Flo. In 1990 he retired from the Texas Highway Department of Transportation in Buffalo after over 32 years of service. After this retirement, Mr. Jack began a career in trapping hogs. He would work six days a week and became known as the “Hog Man.”   Up until the last two weeks of his life, he worked at trapping hogs, which he very much enjoyed doing. He passed away in Centerville on July 15, 2017.
Mr. Jack Williams was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Moyra Jean Brown and Beulah Davison and two brothers, Harvey and Bob Williams. His surviving family members include his wife, Eva Nell (Lee) Williams of Flo Community; sons, George Williams (wife, Barbara) of Flo Community, Mike Williams (wife, Diana) of Bullard, Texas and Malcolm Williams (wife, Paula) of Tyler, Texas; daughters, Glenda Moreland (husband, Robert) of Flo Community and Mary K. Williams of Flo Community; a sister, Viola Wilson of Terry, Mississippi; sister-in-law, Jewell Williams of Arkansas; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren (with two more on the way).
Serving as pallbearers were Adam Williams, Wesley Williams, Stephen Williams, Patrick Williams, Aaron Moreland, Christopher Bralley and Chad Thompson.
Mr. Jack’s family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Flo Volunteer Fire Department, 13958 FM 1511, Buffalo, Texas 75831 and to the “Jared Helmcamp Scholarship Fund,” c/o Citizens State Bank, P.O. Box 278, Buffalo, Texas 75831.
