Funeral services for L. Jean (Kennedy) Olson, age 92, were held Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas. Reverend Paula Behrens, pastor of Stewart Memorial U.M.C., officiated the service. Interment was held. at Friendship Methodist Church Cemetery near Rockdale, Texas.
Pallbearers were Greg Kennedy, Michael Kennedy, Stacy Langley, Christopher Russell, Larry Skinner and Robert Hoff. Honorary pallbearer was Gene Hoff.
Jean Olson was born on November 20, 1924, in Friendship, Texas to Bryant and Myrta (Strickland) Rhodes. She worked as an accountant most of her life. Jean enjoyed reading until her eyes began to fail her. She also crocheted quite often when she was younger and could never pass up an opportunity to attend a Houston Astros game. Jean had lived in Leon County for the past ten years, coming from Baytown, and had been a member of Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church since 2008.
Jean passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, in Centerville, Texas.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents and brothers, Roy and Bud Rhodes.
Surviving relatives include three sons, Paul Kennedy (wife, Ann) of Buffalo, Lee Kennedy of Jackson, MS and Allan Kennedy of Buffalo and brother, Floyd Rhodes of Georgetown. Jean is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
