Funeral services for Nettie Claudine Prewitt, age 100, of Centerville were held Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 2 PM at the Centerville Healthcare Center Chapel in Centerville. Bro. Ed Houk, the nursing home chaplain, officiated at the service. A graveside interment service was held the next day, Friday, May 5, 2017 at 1 PM in the Laurel Land Cemetery, 7100 Crowley Rd., Ft. Worth, Texas 76134.
Nettie Prewitt was born on January 15, 1917 in Casper, Wyoming to Claude L. and Catherine (French) Prewitt. Because of an unfortunate incident in her childhood, she was unable to live on her own for the rest of her life. She lived with her parents, then at the Mexia State School in Mexia, Texas and, finally, she became a permanent resident of the facility that is now known as the Centerville Healthcare Center in Centerville, Texas. Through the years, she became a favorite of many of the other residents, as well as the many workers and visitors at the nursing home. Nettie passed away at the Madison St. Joseph Health Center in Madisonville, Texas on April 30, 2017.
Nettie especially enjoyed listening to music and to old radio shows. She had a taste for chocolate, coca cola and coffee. Nettie was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Mildred. Her surviving family includes a niece, Sammye Hangebrauck; a nephew, Woody Eller; seven great-nieces; one great-nephew; sixteen great-great nieces and nephews; twenty-three great-great-great nieces and nephews and one great-great-great-great nephew.
