Frances “Claudine” Walker Duren died February 25, 2017, in Tulsa, OK. She was 91. Claudine was born December 18, 1925, to Dee Nanny and James Waymon Walker near Jewett, TX.
Following high school graduation, Claudine moved to Houston where she completed secretarial school while working at Humble Oil Co. She married Guy William Duren Jr. on April 2, 1947. They were married for 65 years until his death in 2012.
The couple moved to Tulsa in 1964. During the 1970s, Claudine worked for Tulsa Public Schools at the Education Service Center.
Claudine was a member of Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian and volunteered there, with Meals On Wheels, and the Red Cross. She enjoyed duplicate bridge, camping, fishing, gardening, reading, writing and doing crossword puzzles. The couple attended Texas A&M sporting events and traveled worldwide.
Claudine was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; one sister, and her husband, Guy William Duren Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Bobbie Pertl of Pasadena, TX; children Debbie Barrick and her husband Dale Quigley, of Tulsa; Russ Duren and his wife Cheryl, of Oxnard CA; Dee Ann Duren of Tulsa; and grandchildren Brett Barrick, his wife Whitney and their daughter Monroe of Tampa, FL; Lora Barrick, and her fiance Brian Mosher of Bedford, TX; Russell Duren, his wife Anina and their children Kylie, Alyssa and Wyatt of Las Vegas, NV; Bradley Duren and his wife Jessica of Camarillo, CA, and Chris Duren and his wife Megan of Pacific Grove, CA.
A funeral service was held Friday, March 10 at Kirk of the Hills. A reception followed. A graveside service was held Thursday, March 16, at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston and a dinner followed.
