Ora Pearl Stone Nance

Funeral services for Mrs. Ora Nance, 93, were Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett. Bro. Robert Read officiated. Interment followed the services at New Hope Cemetery near Lake Limestone.
Mrs. Nance passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Fairview Nursing Home in Fairfield.
She was born on November 7, 1923, in the New Hope Community near Jewett to J. W. and Vida Ainsworth Stone.
Ora was a devoted mother, avid gardener and wonderful cook. She enjoyed entertaining others and hosting events at her home. She was employed for many years at the Mexia State School where she operated the canteen. After retirement, Ora was very active in many civic and volunteer organizations in the Jewett and Lake Limestone areas. She married Granval on April 17, 1987, and shared over twenty-nine years of marriage together.
Cherishing her memory along with her husband, Granval J. Nance, is her daughter, Laqueta Posey and husband, Don, all of Fairfiled; four stepchildren, Diane Scott of Haleyville, Alabama, Larry Nance and wife, Michelle, of Thornton, Ronnie Nance and wife, Sue, of Alvin, and Glenda Hickham of Manvel; granddaughters, Michelle German and husband, Dan, of Fairfield, Melanie Cooper and husband, Wade, of Teague, Carrie Ferguson and husband, Jody, of Magnolia, Jennifer Sweeney of Minnesota, Crystal Cross and husband, Andy, of Pearland, Stephanie Caldwell and husband, Mike, of Rosharon, and Sarah Nance of Katy; grandsons, Michael Posey and wife, Aimee, of Fairfield, Nathan Nance of Alvin, Robbie Nance of Alvin, and T. J. Sweeney and wife, Naomi, of LaPorte; seven great-grandchildren, Garrett German and wife, Taylor, Kirby Cooper, Dani German, Trevor Cooper, Blake Posey, Paige Posey, and Addison Posey; numerous dear and loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Nance was preceded in death by two husbands, J. W. Ellis, Jr. in 1970, and Richard Fain Scott in 1980; her parents; three brothers, W. G. Key, O’Neal Stone, Kenneth Stone; one sister, Margaret White; and one step-daughter, Linda Sweeney.
