Rex served in the US Air Force from 1951-1955 before graduating from Mississippi State University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He served in numerous positions within the Oil and Gas industry, but most loved his career as a Training Manager at Dresser Atlas where he was employed for 36 years.

Survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Bridget Hendrix of Richmond, Texas and his beloved granddaughters, Emily and Katie Hendrix; his four sisters: Frances Lawler, Barbara Ann Wheat and Patricia Davis all of Purvis, MS and Cheryl Gipson of Saucier, MS; many, many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Rex loved and enjoyed his family above all else, and was always proud to hear stories of each individual’s successes. He was a master story teller who could recall and tell stories for hours on end, enjoyed tinkering with projects and could repair almost anything.
