Patricia Singleton Dabadie

Graveside services for Patricia Singleton Dabadie, 73,  were held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Sardis Cemetery near Jewett. Bro. Jeremy Wilson officiated.
Patricia Lamerle Singleton Dabadie, or “Pat” as her family and friends called her, was the daughter of the late Carl “Keltus” and Juanita (Ferguson) Singleton. She was born in Ennis, TX on May 2, 1943. Pat attended schools in Texas and Louisiana, graduating from Baker High School in Baker, LA., with the class of 1961. She lived most of her life in Louisiana, but spent the last eleven years of her life in Texas.
At an early age, Pat expressed her faith in Jesus Christ and leaned on her Christian faith all the days of her life.
In October of 1963, she married Joseph Walter (J. W.) Dabadie. Jay was a wonderful, loving, Christian man and he certainly loved Pat. Pat and Jay adopted a son in 1970.
J. W. preceded Pat in death in September 2001 after suffering from Mesothelioma.
Pat passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016, in Beaumont, TX from complications of strokes and diabetes. Her sisters believe that when she got to heaven on that Thursday, the Lord placed her in Heaven’s Nursery where she could hold and play with the babies and children. Pat also had a great love and knowledge of antiques. She had a big heart and loved people hard and deep and would always try to help those less fortunate than her.
She loved her family very much and held a special place in her heart for her sister Edythe Port. Edythe was Pat’s caregiver for the last years of her life.
Pat was a very accomplished artist and sold many pieces of her artwork in south Louisiana. She could also crochet and sew beautifully. She was, in fact, the only one of her siblings that had artistic talent. Pat loved babies and little children and they loved her.
In addition to her husband, Pat was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William Earl “Bill” Singleton; a special cousin, Jo Betty Singleton Phelps; two brothers-in-law, Joseph B. Port, Jr. and John W. Mays.
She is survived by her sisters, Linda Matthews and husband, Danny, of Jewett; Karen Singleton of Bowling Green, KY, Diana Golday and husband, David, of Williston, FL, Edythe Port of Beaumont, and Renee Ferguson and husband, Paul, of Buffalo; one son, Jeffery and four grandchildren all of Louisiana; numerous other relatives and friends.
Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett was in charge of the funeral. Please visit our website at to sign the memorial guestbook or to leave a message for the family.
